Crepuscule
This is my first TTV style shot. My Ansco Rediflex arrived in the mail today and after spending the rest of the day creating the dark box to marry my DSLR to the Rediflex, I was finally ready to take my first shots at dusk.
See here for photos and description of my dark box contraption
This is my favourite tree in my backyard. I look out at it every day and have wanted to capture it, but nothing has worked until today.
I tweaked the levels in this one to get a cross processed look. Slight adjustment of lightness, contrast and brightness. Cropped to a square.

Massive thank you goes out to Kitsmumma for the invaluable advice on viewfinder cameras and what to expect from them :)

This is a fantastic photo … I love the idea of combining digital techniques with traditional methods. I have to find the time to get back into doing more of it … you have given me some inspiration from this image alone. I look forward to seeing what your dark box looks like.
parmi replied about 1 month ago
Madeline, thank you so much, you have really given me the confidence boost I need! I was inspired by a few artists on here to do this. To think I have inspired someone on my first attempt is such a massive thrill! Have you seen the TTV Group for more work of the same nature. That’s where I was first inspired to do this, mainly by Kitsmumma. I’ll get the dark box shots up by the end of the week :)

This is cool Andrew, sort of a “old Film” look, very creative.
parmi replied 29 days ago
Thanks Kim, I thought of an old 70s film when I was playing around with this too :)
Ric Alexander 29 days ago

Thanks heaps mate. Check out “here”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/parmi/journal/4021524-the-contraption-the-wonderful-world-of-ttv for how I made mine, pretty simple once you get it going. In the TTV group there’s a lot of info on it too :)

A wonderful image Andrew! I love that fuzzy blur around the edges, & of course I’ve got a real thing for grunge – great to see the Anscoflex hadn’t been cleaned!
Love it…. well done :))
parmi replied 29 days ago
Thanks so much Rosemary!! I loved the blurred effect it produced, really got me excited about what I could do with this new addition. I was really hoping it would be uncleaned and full of dust and dirt, was so happy it was!

PS : looking forward to seeing the contraption!

parmi replied 29 days ago
Oh thanks so much Kit! That means a great deal coming from you especially. I just put up a journal entry on my dark box contraption, was a lot of fun to build. I also now understand the frustration element you were telling me about too :)

parmi replied 29 days ago
Thanks a lot Wendy! Would really love to see the viewfinder world through your eyes!! It is a lot of fun, albeit, a tad frustrating to adjust to having things move in opposite directions on the screen to how we move!

Thanks Mate, gotta have a giggle every now and then don’t we.
We’re going to the Middle East, Jordan- PETRA!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!! Which I’ve wanted to visit since I was knee high to a grasshopper, plus other countries in and around the region. We’ll be visiting ancient, ancient, did I say ancient? cities! I’m talking 5,000 years old ancient is how ancient! And I’ll either be getting a Canon 50d or we might even be able to stretch it to a Canon 5d (awed hushed silence ensues….eyes go glassey….and I fall off my chair and wake up with a nasty bump and a very, very sore shoulder) .....Nothing wrong with dreams…as long as we can bring them to fruition! ;
)) Both dreams are likely to come true, all being well and we don’t suffer another financial meltdown between now and the time we have booked to go away…... fingers crossed. ;))parmi replied 29 days ago
Hahaha.. laughing is definitely necessary and always on the agenda with you around mate! That sounds like my dream holiday. I would love to visit Jordan especially. I have a real love of the ancient world. Ancient? Yes ancient haha.. A 5D!!! Nearly fell of my chair just reading this. No one actually owns a 5D, do they? I thought that was just myth. That is going to be one incredible holiday my friend. You will be the RB golden boy when you return with those pics! In case I forget to say so later.. have an AWESOME time!!! As if you wont.. lol
Bryan Freeman 29 days ago
BTW, how much are these new fangled contraptions going for on that old school ebay?
parmi replied 29 days ago
Fangled.. man i love that word! I got mine for $30 inc postage from usa. They ranged between $20 and $70 when I was looking about 2 weeks ago mate. Most were from usa, but a couple here in Aust too.
Bryan Freeman 29 days ago
30 bucks!? man! That is soooOOOo cheaP…but I have to confess something, when I showed this to my wife and I was raving and blubbering about this wonderful image and how great it was and showed the way you achieved it with all that hard work etc etc yada yada..she looked at me like I was a dribbling fool, which I was by that stage and realised I needed to calm down, quite a bit in fact, and i said to her…Wait until you see the images Parmi (andrew) takes with this wonderful contraption. It’s gunna be awesomeness incarnate! She still ooked at me like a dribbling fool..but as these contraptions are only 30 bucks or so, I reckon i could buy one and let it sneak into the house without her knowing too much. Afterall, what’s 30 bucks when we’re gonna be spending 10’s of dollars going to the middle east? I arsk ya!
parmi replied 29 days ago
Haha classic! That was described so well, I could visualise it happening. All that was missing was the hit on the head with the rolled up newspaper! I really thought it was a bargain too. I have a love for all things old and dusty, and this really fit the awesomeness category. 30 is absolutely nothing in this day and age! Get on it mate!! Would love to see what you capture with it!

Hmmmm!!!!!!...this looks really interesting… .I’m no expert regarding your technique … but for me it resembles a water reflection cast off … is it a Jacaranda????......from Ebay to this… well done…..
parmi replied 9 days ago
Awesome, I can see that in it now too! It must be those blurred edges. Not a jacaranda, but it does have a very similar branch structure to one. That’s probably why I like it so much! Thanks so much Maria!
