Disconnection

This is one of the power and telephone pole across the road from my house. Being so close to home it has taken me over a year to pick up the camera, walk to my front gate and take a photo of it!

Added a viewfinder texture to the shot and three filters, blue, green and cooling.

I love how you have taken an everyday subject that so many of us don’t even notice and made art out of it Andrew! I had to chuckle when I first saw this because I took a very similar photo this weekend and was going to post it but figured people would think I was off my rocker. As soon as I saw this I thought COOL and not for a second did I think you were off of yours lol! I have to stop worrying about what others think I guess! Anyway, I think this is brilliant and I absolutely love the post work on it :)

  • parmi replied

Just love the viewfinder texture and colours, I’m seeing “The Birds”, with a bit of distorted reality here. Love all the lines crossing the frame at differing angles, which you’ve maximized with your choices in composition.
    Cheers,
    h

  • parmi replied

Thanks mate, this one kinda created itself for me. It’s funny when you see something every day and know it’s meant to be turned into art. I can see the birds reference in this, ominous and slightly hitchcock in a way. Nice work finding that, I hadn’t made the connection till now!!

Amazing, isn’t it disturbing how much power and confusion is necessary for daily life these days? :) Well done.

  • parmi replied 28 days ago

Thanks Ellen. It really bothers me how reliant we are on technology and power! We had a blackout for 45 mins last winter and I was worried I wouldn’t have the computer for a while! Sad but true. I think this piece reflects that day in some way :)
