Architectural Damage
This is a building at the end of Rundle St Mall in the Adelaide CBD, Australia. I found the style to be so close to that of many neo gothic buildings in America, as seen in thousands of movies etc.
I decided on a slightly ominous mood for this one, daytime darkness. Added two textures to give the feel of an old picture or movie still, taken from a magazine.
I think this has a slight New York feel to it. That may or may not be due to the fact that every ominous disaster film is set there :)

wicked. you’ve done some work on this sucker – i really like the original building, it is one of the few neo-gothic-esque buildings in the city and it has pretty pleasing proportions to boot. good work!!!

Hey Wayne, thanks a lot mate! That’s a huge compliment from a local :) This one really stood out to me, I saw it from a distance, walking down Rundle Mall and thought, “this ones coming home”. Thanks for the awesome comment mate!!

Super treatment on this Parmi, its like its a painting on a canvas that you’ve just rolled out and layed on the table. Wonderful building :))

Im jealous of this texture you have put in there. It matches the photo brilliantly. I have got to a stage where i have too many textures to keep track of. Still threatening to use lightroom or similar program to display them all. Fantastic image.

Haha, you know, I think I’m getting to that point too mate, I’m getting confused with which ones I’ve used and which I haven’t yet. Thanks mate, I’m so motivated and pumped you like my work, as I’ve always been a huge fan of yours!

Wonderful capture and amazing treatment Andrew, I don’t know whether it’s is the original building or your post work but the facade has this really beautiful stained or aged patina to it’s masonry which gives it a real warmth and depth, very nice work my friend
parmi replied
Thanks so much mate! The building itself is incredible to look at, it does have a slight stained look, and I think the textures have enhanced that even further. Really thrilled you like it mate, cheers!!

parmi replied
You will get hooked Maria!! I have to stop myself from adding textures to everything I create lol.. I’m glad you see the clouds as smoky too, that was exactly where the title came from, great eye for interpretation!! Thanks mate :)
