Clandestine
Another one of Melbourne’s magical lane ways. This one runs between Bourke Street and Little Bourke Street. I love the industrial urban grunge this one has.
The graffiti on the bin in the foreground reads COOKIE, as the building at the end of the lane way is The Curtain House, a multi level building housing Cookie, The Toff In Town and the Rooftop Bar & Cinema (in summer).
This particular lane had a dark feeling to it. Although not overly dirty or strewn with rubbish, I could imagine the underbelly of Melbourne meeting here for some illegal operation. Do we have assassins in Melbourne? If we do, I’m sure this would be the perfect crime scene!

Aileen David
oooh, very cloak and dagger stuff;) I like the coloration and the darker lower portion/lighter upper portion – it draws the viewer down the ally.
parmi replied
You see exactly what I did when creating this! Thanks so much Aileen :)
Trinx
This is right up my street :)
All that multilayering pays off – the high contrast, and slightly desaturated colour is very appealing somehow. the
parmi replied
Hey thanks mate, really glad to hear! It definitely does pay off, my first go at multilayered effects, but I think I’m addicted!
Lorena Maria
So cool . Andrew you once again.. i like this green overdose bit “strange” but works so well.. hard to breathing in this lane.. heh?
parmi replied
Haha, it was slightly uncomfortable in general down this particular lane!! I was hoping the bizarre feeling would come across through the processing, very glad to hear it did. Thanks a lot Lore!
Daniel Angeles
This is kinda inviting, yet dark and worrisome. I can only imagine the many stories that have come out of this alleyway.
parmi replied
Exactly what I thought when I walked past, doubled back and ventured down it. Didn’t get to go round the corner, and that’s what made me go with a bit of mystery in this one. Thanks for the great comment mate!

brill colouring – like the tiny red elements against that mix of cyan/green, gives a dirty urban mage an ultra moderne feel, “impressive, most impressive” as a “force”
ful friend of mine would say….lol ;)Cheers mate,
h
parmi replied
haha, thanks so much mate! Force is strong in this one :) I’m so glad you pointed out the red in this, that was my deal sealer in putting it up on here. Many many thanks my friend!!

Mark Cotterill
Saw it on the main page and just loved it, but I do prefer the cropped version they used, with just the top-half. Kind of reminds of the set of the Matrix, I think they used to filter out all the blues. Nice work.
parmi replied
Thanks a lot Mark! Can definitely see the Matrix connection to this one :)

Love this! I love the laneways of Melbourne and I like the underbelly reference! I’ve sometimes thought about shady figures meeting up in a dark laneway as an art idea.
parmi replied
Thank you very much! I’m really happy the feelings and references connect for you. Melbourne offers so many places for underworld happenings, I just love it!
Sanne Thijs

parmi replied
Oh thanks so much for uploading this for me!
Alixzandra
Well done on your HP, deserved with this image. I like your attention to the smallest composure details, the cobbled bricks straight down the middle and disappearing to the right outta sight. First thing that came to mind when I viewed this shot being a film fiend, was this alley would be the type of place you’d expect to see Terminator or Highlander arrive in style!! Great visual peice.
parmi replied
Thanks so much Alix! Ahh Terminator & Highlander.. perfect! Can really see the bright blue bolts of electricity as they travel through time to here. That’s awesome, thanks for bringing that visual into this piece for me :)
