Search Party
This is the first of several shots that I took while in Adelaide over the weekend. This is a laneway off a main street in Adelaide city centre. It grabbed my attention as I walked past, the dilapidated building, the door, the lone milk crate.
It gave me a creepy feeling, even though it was mid afternoon.
So I put the powers of post processing to work, blanched out colour, selective colour and contrast adjustment on door and a bit of lighting effect. The contrast of dark and light to aid the scary mood of this one.
This gave me the feeling that someone was being held here, against their will. Within reach of the public, but so well hidden no one knows they are there. This moment is when the search party looking for them for days, maybe weeks, finally gets the clue that leads them here.
Too late?

Catchy ! it caught my eyes in my page. Like the idea of color selection and the composition. In my point of view, a little bit too dark, I would have like to see all the details ;-)
parmi replied
Thanks so much Stephan! It was a real battle of dark vs light here lol.. Spent a while trying to decide which way to go. Thanks for the advice, I’ll aim for lighter on the next one :)

Like your words. I am also wondering what you are doing when you Blanch your tones, I think you are bleaching them. Anyway, Like it very much. Well done.
parmi replied
Thanks a lot mate! By blanching I mean I have slightly adjusted the hue of the colour, brightness increased, and then desaturated almost all the way. Bleaching is pretty much it!
mrjaws

what fascinates me are the numbers above the door, a cell/prisoner number almost….hmmmm and that one lat of dark red wood, I bet that’s there for a reason…the plot thickens….

parmi replied
That is exactly what drew me to the mood I wanted to go with! Those numbers represented a cell or prison for me too. So glad you see it in that mind frame too mate! There is something about a red door that always grabs me, but in a positive way. So I wanted to try and change my own outlook on that. Awesome comment, thanks mate!!
Wayne Pearson
Great one Andrew, I took this some time ago, that crate has been there for years it seems, well seen and captured.
parmi replied
Thanks so much mate! It really did look like an abandoned and forgotten part of the city. Wonder what happens in there!! :)
Ric Alexander
Thought it was something like that, Thank for clarifying it.
