We were so lucky to meet some wonderful dancers/musicians a couple of weeks ago in our hometown of Lezay, the dancers are from Indonesia and we had 2 lovely evenings with them and had the pleasure of watching their beautiful dancing and listening to their music at the park (the Chaboussants also dance but a shorter time) I was also lucky enough to go behind the scenes whilst they were preparing, this is one of the shots I captured.

I have chosen to do selective colour leaving the backdrop (which is a tarp)
The makeup she applied,
Carefully behind the tarp,
Hid the fact that she was lithe,
And young and so prepared,
This dance was no lark.
With each night, she was rehearsing the pirouettes’,
And she’d put up her hair in the discomfort of curlers,
Such dedicatioin for perhaps 15 minutes of fame,
For the satisfaction of applause and three squares a day.
Not doubt about her attraction, she’d gotten plenty of looks,
But she was here for the steps and music,
The patterns it took,
To all artists, and performers like her,
Images and contrasts and the eyes and feet,
It’s a hard fought achievement and hard work too,
Obviously a love of this art……..dancing the truth.
