a delightful port on the little Ile de Ré another of Frances’ little gems taken from the top of the church tower!
This is overlooking the one part of the port the Atlantic/Bay of Biscay lovely and blue after a very grey start to the day…
The Ile de Ré (france) is a beautiful island in the Bay of Biscay, it is accessed from mainland La Rochelle by way of a bridge (not as big as the bridge to Il d’Oleron). Once on the Island you can either walk, cycle or drive quite happily around. Most of the buildings are single storey due to the high winds and sea level. The white bungalows in the towns are added to with either blue or green shutters and doors and in June-September a plethora of Hollyhocks add to the quaintness of the towns.
