Le Port St.Martin
a delightful port on the little Ile de Ré another of Frances’ little gems taken from the top of the church tower! Several times I wondered about the madness of going to the top (when those stairs were built they were for small french people – not for tall big feeted english women!!
This is overlooking the one part of the port the Atlantic/Bay of Biscay lovely and blue after a very grey start to the day…
Taken with my Pentax Optio M50 as is

Peranchu
nice capture and framing indeed!
Pamela Jayne S... replied
Thank you Peranchu :)
Wendi Donaldson
Beautiful shot…so charming. Love those red roofs – they create a nice contrast with the whitish walls and the deep blue of the sea. I’ve done towers with stairs and they’re killers!! glad you persisted.
Pamela Jayne S... replied
Thank you so much Wendi – once I got over the leg shakes I didn’t really want to go back down again!! The worst bit was the light to say you could go up and down didn’t seem to be working properly so we started to go down only to be pushed back up again ahhh…..
emolena

A well chosen elevated viewpoint to capture this beautiful little harbour scene Pamela, wonderful colours and it looks a must visit location, well captured,
Regards, Rod.
Pamela Jayne S... replied
Thank you Rod for your comments :) YES it is a wonderful port to visit we stumbled upon it really and had a lovely time walking around and exploring – although we went in June before the tourist season and the price of the bridge goes up to get on to the Il de Ré but a wonderful little place we could have spent a lot more time there!
FelicityB
What a picturesque little town – you’ll have Bubblers flocking there this summer!
Pamela Jayne S... replied
Thank you Felicity! lol that’s a great thought and it is a lovely little town so much to see and do and lots of lovely little lanes with white houses and hollyhocks everywhere!

Pamela Jayne S... replied
Thank you Colin :) once my legs has stopped shaking I was able to take in the full glory of the view – it was stunning, especially to the sea and then the history just envelopes you when standing there!

Wow! I thought I may be alone in the shaking legs and hands seeing a new scene or subject and with nervous antisipation….perhaps expecting it to disappear before I can capture it…perfectly…..I hope, I hope, I hope !!!!
Sometimes the only vaste history here at home is an 1898 cottage…and I a pleased with that…..almost..LOL

I am not best at heights – I am fine when there but it’s the getting there!! But yes it is also the anticipation for me as well! You will have to put the Il de Ré on your holiday list :)

We often spot the similarities to Cornwall and Wales around France! Especially some coastal towns!!
