incredible work….. you are the master…..... bravo…........b
David J. Vande...
Thanks, but if I am the master then why do I feel like its time to give up? I cant get an art galleries or others interested in my work? The love my work but in the same breath ask what else can I do. Very frustrating!
Thanks for your comments… you and others here have kept me going. Thanks!

GREAT WORK!

Congratulations David, another lovely piece. The satin sheen on the skin of the the occupants of this work is awesome, and backs up the title as well as the postioning I think.
What else can you do? Someone really asked you that? Were you tempted to say “Here, I’ll show you what else I can do!” Then promptly punch them in the nose…......”How was that? Would you like to see what ELSE I can do as well?” lol
Stick with it mate, keep the faith!!!
David J. Vande... replied
Ken, I have come to the conclusion that the art galleries here in America have no clue what art is! One tells me my work is too contemporary while another in the same week tells me its not contemporary enough! I just don’t fit in I suppose…. but that does’t mean I stop doing what I enjoy doing. Again, thanks!
Christopher Bi...
you are very talented david..c
David J. Vande... replied
Christopher, thanks. I needed to hear that today! And coming from great artists as yourselves, I am honored!

Name an artist that DOES fit in? As far as I’m concerned, if you don’t fit in, then you’re on the right track! ;)
David J. Vande... replied
ha.. that is so very true! Thanks for the encouragement!

hun… I’m 23 and i have that problem. Especially if you look at what i draw. I have an even harder time getting my art out, recognized for OTHER jobs.. I live in a small little town (in Canada) with no art interest, but a HUGE film industry.. so I go to film sets.. Two of my favorite shows are filmed out here, so I go out to the locations with my art.. get it out that way. ;p I’ll draw the Stars. There’s always little ways of getting noticed besides gallery’s.
I have days too where I don’t know what else to draw other then portraits.. hun.. I don’t even make money being an artist. I work as a cashier a biker store.
My site gets a good amount of visitors… but no feedback..hardly any comments.. but i still keep it up.
so i dont fit in either. :P
David J. Vande... replied
I am sure you have heard of that phrase. “keep your day job”? Well that applies to artists especially. I am a graphic artist in the marketing department of a newspaper and even though I sell my drawings ever so often its never as often as I wish but it comes just in time.
I have had my drawings in a few art galleries but I have come to the conclusion unless you know the gallery owner on a personal level , a pencil drawing will never make it into art galleries in North America… so I draw commissioned pieces and sell from my website.
I did put together a book on my drawings so just maybe thats what drawing is for? To share with other artists…. after all drawing for me it is my way of relaxing and an escape so just maybe my works helps others do the same thing.
Keep up the work you do, aim to get matter no matter the level you are and remember you are doing it because you enjoy it… and should others see it, thats always a plus!

David, I am becoming a big fan….you are waaaaaaay too young to be talking about giving up!
especially with your talent….shake it off and keep going…
Cathy
David J. Vande... replied
ha.. thanks…. but 47 is far from young!!!! I have this fear the mind will give up or the fingers before the desire to draw ends. So I had better get some masterpieces done soon! LOL.

Too old? Stop it…my sides are splitting. Talk about laugh!!! I’m 54…and I started art school this year. Over the hil? Not yet. Keep going – express yourself without care whether others want to give you money for it or not. Your art is good – look at what all these other artists are saying. Isn’t it enough to do your best work? Gosh I hope it is, ‘cause otherwise I’m stuffed!!
David J. Vande... replied
ha.. okay, okay…. thanks!
I actually gave up drawing for about six years and it was at the end of that period I realized why I drew. It wasn’t for others but for my self. It was my way of relaxing, and escape. Ever notice that your best work is pieces yo wan tot create, as appose to commissioned jobs that you do for money. The best art, be it a drawing, painting or sculpture comes from the heart.
One of the best thing about the artists and photographers I have meet here, besides their work, is the love and support they offer. Wow!!!

Another breathtaking piece David, superb :)
Tony Ryan
Hi David,
I agree that you are very talented. For what it is worth sometimes talent in art is not rewarded commercially at first sometimes not at all. However your work is inspiring to me and so many other people and I would imagine to yourself. I would love to sell my photos in galleries but cannot get anyone interested. However I love beauty and love creativity and would never want to stop doing what I love.
David J. Vande... replied
Your work is amazing. Its a shame galleries or publishers wont show your work!!! Well, I hope my books take off and what I have shared about you in them brings you the success you deserve, on day!!!
Tony Ryan
Hope your book does really well David. Even if it doesn’t don’t lose faith in your work. It is technically brilliant but most importantly has very powerful essence energy emanating from it.
David J. Vande... replied
Thanks, Tony. Support like yours is what keeps me going. Not the ‘what-if’ of a dream or project but support from other artists such as yourself. With al my heart.. thanks!!
