Leonardo da Vinci’s Harbour

In the summer of 1502, Leonardo da Vinci Architect Engineers et General of the “Duca Valentino” Cesare Borgia, arrived in Romagna in order to design new fortifications. On 6 September in Cesenatico place that deserved special attention because of its port. In his notebook travel (the famous Codice L ), Leonardo depicts Cesenatico in two designs: a survey of harbor with annotations and measurements, with a bird’s eye view of a fishing village . Leonardo da Vinci’s “transition” , idealized and mythologized in part, marked the cultural imaginary the country, and later became one of the fundamental themes of identity of Cesenatico.
