Wow, what a great shot. It looks very much like a painting. In fact, I hesitated before commenting about it being a photograph. Great stuff.
Mick.
Pamela Inverarity replied
Thanks Mick. I really like these rare moments where there’s ever-so-slightly flitered sunlight and the contrast is reduced whilst not actually eliminating highlights and shadows – which is something particularly reminiscent of paintings. I print many of my photographs on canvas, and it’s surprising how many visitors to my gallery are initially convinced they’re looking at paintings.

This is so reminiscent of Hans Heysen’s work – the lighting is beautiful as are the delicate colours.

What a beautiful old tree…..gorgeous landscape!
Pamela Inverarity
Thanks for the comment Mel, I appreciate it.

A beauty! Has the look of a painting. Would just love to be there! Well done.
Pamela Inverarity replied
Thank you Kathy. The mist made a magic moment and passed all too quickly. I get mist up here even less often than I get rain and running creeks.

Such an iconic “Australian” image. Really lovely. Bet it looks great on canvas!
Pamela Inverarity replied
Thanks Doug. I guess I have Hans Heysen to thank for Flinders Ranges landscapes like this having been immortalised in the Australian subconscious, which certainly helps give viewers a context and reference for my photography. Since I grew up here I just see a creek with beautiful trees in some particularly nice light. I really like it on canvas – canvas seems to give photos a real “depth” and presence, and there are some shots like this one that particularly lend themselves to the medium.

When I first saw this it looked like an Oil Painting, an excellent piece of art and great composition, I wish we had misty mornings like that here!
Pamela Inverarity replied
Thank you! I wish we had more misty mornings here too – this happened just once last year, and it was pretty unusual too. We had plenty of dust storms though…
Margot Kiesskalt
