Barbie Doesn't Live Here Anymore- Detail by

Detail of a gloriously twisted little art piece that came together with a ton of glee. Originally meant to be a cute replica of the pink and white satin “Barbie quilts” of the 1960’s era… that went out the window when the wool arrived! LOL It was SO much more …ahem… colored…vivid…intestinal? Tee, hee, hee! So I gathered up some “Glass” buttons, grabbed hand-painted “Ice” fabric by Mickey Lawler and some scrubby silk sari ribbon and well, made what I thought that Pink Malibu Sweetheart quilt would look like if she had taken a hike! Yeah… better yet… PUNK BARBIE has entered the building!

Accomplished only by collusion with the Wool artistry of Kim Gruber of ! meow!

So the word in our household is that if something holds still long enough… I’ll start stitching on it. Guilty. Like a crow spotting treasure; rocks, shiny jewelry & ?? end up stitched, glued, or otherwise attached to my fabrics. I can’t help it. I’m a material girl. :-) These are photographs of my fabric foolishness; fiber art, embroidery, & quilts of all types. My studio motto is “Let the fabric fly”… these photos are my invitation for you to join me on the flight!
