This Surfin’ dude is the local meeting spot in Imperial Beach, California…a place where families often gather to take pictures. These blue Tee’d blond people are a small part of a very large family reunion who took turns posing with the Surfer Dude before heading for the water.
Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time.
Note: Here is some info on the statue…my thanks to Jules for this:
.IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. —Crews began installing an 18-foot-tall sculpture of a surfer in Imperial Beach, Tuesday.
“The Spirit of Imperial Beach” sculpture is meant to honor the city’s surfing culture and the lifeguards who protect the beaches, according to the Port of San Diego.
The $2.8 million bronze statue, which features a surfer and his longboard, is being installed at the end of Palm Avenue.
It was created by the late artist A. Wasil, a resident of Coronado and a San Diego State University graduate who later went on to teach at both SDSU and San Diego City College, according to the port.
