While watching a young muscrat at Wildwood Park going about its business on a log, his morning was interupted is a blink of an eye. A Black-crown Night Heron was feeding along the water about 25 yards away. In a flash it had the muscrat. I don’t think the heron knew what to do with his catch as the muscrat tried to get away causing the water to fly off the fur. The only problem the action was too close to get the entire bird in the frame. Herons may not be considered birds of prey however, that’s what they do and do it well.
