Haliaeetus leucocephalus soars with its prize. Taken on the Susquehanna River near the Conjohela mud flats during the late winter as they migrate to nesting grounds. Eagles can be a formidable foe for the camera because you don’t want to over expose the white and need light to show the dark feathers. Only when the Eagle banks into the sun will you get the sweet lighting need to do do these raptors the justice they deserve. I’m sure glad we didn’t get the Turkey as our national bird. Eagles were once a rare sight in Pennslyvania but not any more.
