Female Cardinal Cardinalis cardinalis sits in the shadows as the sun moves higher exsposing the wonderful color on her bill. The females one spot of color rivals the red male. As easy as it is to spot the colorful birds, taking their photo was not. Of all the birds I chased getting a good shot of these was one of the hardest. They are constantly moving maybe because they are so easy to spot. Cardinals have a variety of calls through out the year and have a mating ritural where the male will feed her during mating season. The availability of food provided by bird watchers have allowed this bird to expand north. Wildwood Park near Harrisburg provides a variety of habitat for natures creatures.
