Artist's Description

Micron ink pens and India Ink on illustration board
Just one of the amazing living bridges made from tree roots in Cherrapunji, India. The root bridges aren’t made, they’re grown. The War-Khasis, a tribe in Meghalaya, saw the potential of the hardy Rubber trees as a way of making a path across rivers and developed the process.
Some of the older bridges are over 500 years old and new ones take ten to fifteen years to become fully functional. For more information you can check out this article: http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/root-bridges...
Also available on my Society6 as prints, tote bags, pillows and tank tops!
