“You darkness, that I come from,
I love you more than all the fires
that fence in the world,
for the fire makes
a circle of light for everyone,
and then no one outside learns of you.
But the darkness pulls in everything;
shapes and fires, animals and myself,
how easily it gathers them!—
powers and people—
and it is possible a great energy
is moving near me.
I have faith in nights
."Rainer Maria Rilke..

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

    It does look like there is a fire pulling the trees in – and maybe even the birds. Wonderful work Janis.

  • Thanks so much MuiLing..the great thing about Canada is the never ending beauty of the landscape no matter the season….

    Those sunsets must be a lot redder and richer in Canada than in the US…..lol. Very beautiful Janis. That red really is so rich looking, wonderful colour on this one.

  • Thanks so much Jim..I take lots of liberties with colour in general, but truth be told, the sunsets up here are mind blowing..Marian Bendeth often photographs them and I am adding a link to one of hers…she does no post processing…have a stroll through her portfolio…our sunsets are something to behold and she has lots of examples…
