My room and this distance,
awake upon the darkening land, are one.
I am a string stretched across deep
surging resonance.
Things are violin bodies
full of murmuring darkness,
where women’s weeping dreams,
where the rancor of whole generations
stirs in its sleep . . .
I should release
my silver vibrations: then
everything below me will live,
and whatever strays into things
will seek the light
that falls without end from my dancing tone
into the old abysses
around which heaven swells
through narrow
imploring rifts
.. R. Maria Rilke

A sleepless night…a light from the window tells the story of a "woman’s weeping dream" …view large.

Gorgeous, Janis, and reminiscent of a Gothic tale.

  • Thank you so much Frannie…it was based on cottage country here which can indeed be very somber at night…

I just love the illumination over the trees! Yes it is true cottage country can be so very dark at night but the greatest benefit of that is later seeing all the stars!

  • I can imagine it would be lovely…anytime I was at a cottage we would be inside telling yarns…I really never went out at night…the lonely lit window is all about someone sleepless and dreaming…can you see the dock?
Thanks so much Joanne…glad you like it…

I can really feel the days end hear as the dark comes sooner in the day… Love the contrast between the yellow and the magenta; very moody, reminds of my night/morning – was having trouble sleeping last night, so it feels like you were painting my scenario…

  • I will tell you my secret for sleeping…look for a bmail… it is so simple you will laugh…
Dark days..it’s amazing that we all don’t go mad from days like this…we were rushing about Kensington shopping and there was not a gleam of yellow unless I painted it…
I’m really happy you like the painting…I have a lot more ideas to paint of this season before the year is out, before I switch subjects …thanks so much MuiLing..

You may be writing the bm now.. but speaking of laughing, the reason why I couldn’t began because I ate another meal on top of my dinner~

Something just hit me and I felt like eating… then became too full.

  • That might keep you awake, but it might also knock you out depending on what you ate..
