Autumn in Canada, is incredibly beautiful…the only way to paint it is in an Impressionistic style…the trees in my friends’ gardens and in mine burst into flame at this time of year…I gaze and gaze and gaze…then I paint

I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

beautiful work Janis, I love the charred look of those wonderful trunks!
Birch tree bark is wonderful…I don’t know if you have them in Australia….it’s papery grey white, looks burnt in spots and it’s always peeling off…. it’s actually against the law here for anybody to remove the bark from the trees…it is the most wonderful stuff to paint on or make things from, so people have to wait for it to fall off to be able to use it….my mother in law has a birch forest around her house, so if I wanted to paint on the papery bark, (you use the back which is like parchment) I could get lots from the ground….but I just paint the trees…glad you like it …thanks so much Karin….
