Between forest and field, a threshold
like stepping from a cathedral into the street—
the quality of air alters, an eclipse lifts,
boundlessness opens, earth itself retextured
into weeds where woods once were.
Even planes of motion shift from vertical
navigation to horizontal quiescence:
there’s a standing invitation to lie back
as sky’s unpredictable theater proceeds.
Suspended in this ephemeral moment
after leaving a forest, before entering
a field, the nature of reality is revealed
.Ravi Shankar

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

The ever changing sky is an incredible thing. I think the most beautiful skies I’ve seen were those in the deep red hue similar to what you have here. It really reminds me of the the sky I captured in Evening

  • The poem talks about “the skies unpredictable theatre” and here we often get these incredible red skies..I made mine a little more surreal as it’s about a crossing….a kind of unearthly place….thanks so much MuiLing…

Very dramatic light, interesting effect on the raw linen! Beautiful work.

  • A neighbor’s family weave their own linen…it’s lovely stuff to work with and I could not bear to stretch and cover it with gesso, so I use it as is…Dragonfly is also painted on fabric, but raw silk…I have several other paintings done on fabric and really enjoy the change from paper…thanks so much Cindy…
