Stay awhile
We’ve worn the night away and now it’s almost done
If you could stay a bit of breakfast might be fun
It’s too much work for one
And though it’s just a simple guess
We’re stronger now we’ve made the best of
Loneliness.
Waits in silence while the shadows grow
Waits and wonders if it’s finally time to go
The yes in our hello said no to
Loneliness
Paul Williams

My favourite singer/songwiter….so moving…listen to the whole song HERE

I’ll leave to guess who is the speaker and what is the story….Watercolour on Indian paper….

don’t think I’d be able to leave………….she seems devilish……………….oh a beauty grabbing hold.

  • Thanks so much KJ..she is my favourite portrait to date…I feel I know all about her…and it could be someone asking her to stay or she asking them….the song is just beautiful.

I love the way you capture portraits, the clear lines and wild hair. Amazing skin texture, beautiful.

  • They grow in my imagination and come out through my paintbrushes then tell me who they are…I am always intrigued when such strong characters emerge….I am so pleased that you like them….thanks so much Simone….lovely of you….

I feel it in her expression and a bit of the wildness in her hair, that it’s not a relationship she seeks, but rather the immediate gratification, only just to push the beast of loneliness back to it’s corner.

  • You may be right Jim…but she might have found it wan’t enough…on the other hand it might have been the man asking her to stay awhile…
I try to paint emotion through my portraits, so as such they are not just pictures of people but pictures of expressed emotion that might resonate with viewers…in other words they tell a story..
Thank you so much…glad you like it…
