“When you enter a grove peopled with ancient trees, higher than the ordinary, and shutting out the sky with their thickly inter-twined branches, do
not the stately shadows of the wood, the stillness of the place, and the awful gloom of this doomed cavern then strike you with the presence of a deity
?"Seneca

“I have always found thick woods a little intimidating, for they are so secret and enclosed. You may seem alone but you are not, for there are always eyes watching you. All the wildlife of the woods, the insects, birds, and animals, are well aware of your presence no matter how softly you may tread, and they follow your every move although you cannot see them."Thalassa Cruso

In the quiet of a winter’s morning, a conversation about trees, by men and by the trees themselves…deep in the forest where man rarely goes….this area is really far north in the Canadian shield, where everything is ancient and somber..I have not been there in many years…I must go back soon..

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

Very nice, and I agree about the feeling a woods gives. When we lived in Oklahoma, one place we lived was a typical city lot, but behind it was a woods. It was really intriguing to just sit out there and look into the woods, and see the many creatures that lived there, that were not evident even a block away from the woods. We routinely saw many birds, reptiles, and mammals no one knew lived around there. Trees are kind of mysterious. There is so much life in them that you don’t always see unless you are still, quiet, and observant.

  • Thanks so much Cindy….
I live right in the heart of the city, but we have trees everywhere….it is a city practice to plant trees on every property and homeowners can’t touch them…in fact we are not allowed to cut down any tree on our properties whether city owned or not without permission from city hall…they are sacred….anyone who does it without permission gets a heavy fine…
I gaze at trees every chance I get, in all seasons as they change from month to month….
