“A full moon shines
over the morning frost;
the lanes are full of late-fallen leaves;

walking across the mulch
is almost as tricky
as treading over ice…
In town the carol-singers are in
crowding the shopping-mall,
while a group of muffled musicians
play by the outside market

I’ve started moving a bit closer to the city…you can see the lights behind the trees across the frozen water…the path along the lakeside is treacherous at this time of year, but many brave it’s perils in the name of fitness..Ontario, Canada…

    I love the effects of the stiff wind and blown snow here. Beautiful and evocative work, Janis.

  • Thank you so much for the lovely compliment Frannie…some days everything is frozen solid like this….

    It’s really amazing isn’t it, how it all comes back in the Spring. But for now, there’s much to enjoy in this season. That you’ve been able to capture the essence of snow-impacted ground this way, in watercolor, is impressive work, Janis, I want to add.

  • Thanks again Frannie…no doubt watercolour is a challenge…. it fights back by defying the artist, by never staying put and changing even after it’s dried, but that’s what I love about it…it never ceases to excite me…
