The snowfall is so silent,
so slow,

bit by bit, with delicacy
it settles down on the earth
and covers over the fields.
The silent snow comes down
white and weightless;
snowfall makes no noise,
falls as forgetting falls,
flake after flake.
It covers the fields gently
while frost attacks them
with its sudden flashes of white;
covers everything with its pure
and silent covering;
not one thing on the ground
anywhere escapes it
..excerpt M. De Unamuno

A December noon can look like midnight here in Canada, and at the same time blind you with it’s light..outside of the city the fields and trees are so empty, you may well believe that no one has ever been there…except in distance some touch of humankind can be seen..
I can never get used to winter’s idiosyncrasies… different every year, it’s infinite variety always keeps me spellbound
…Toronto, Ontario, Canada..

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

    I remember driving cross country (USA) back in the late’60’s…..and much of the country was blanketed just like this… where did I put those snow chains……

  • I had intended to put people in the landscape along the road, but changed my mind….it looks better without anyone there…

    Very nice, you are on fire w/this series…love the glint of bright blue at the horizon, nice color contrast.

  • When I started painting in Watercolour, I started with winter, and it’s always been a favourite of mine….I used to do a lot of bright colours, but this year my palette is more subdued….but you never know…
    Thanks so much Cindy….
