In jazz and blues, a blue note (also “worried” note) is a note sung or played at a slightly lower pitch than that of the major scale for expressive purposes. Typically the alteration is a semitone or less, but this varies among performers and genres. Country blues, in particular, features wide variations from the diatonic pitches with emotive blue-notes. Blue notes are often seen as akin to relative pitches found in traditional African work songs…wiki

Well that must be one romantic pie you bake Janis! Because this music is just made to put you in the mood! This is such a clever composition! I love blueberries and have been eating them every morning for the past couple of months. Finally I am able to buy these tinier local versions! Love the fruit juxtapositioned onto the music sheet, and such great contrast of light and color with the orange peels!

  • It’s funny…I do these compositions instinctively….then I start to wonder why I put certain things together…then suddenly I know why….after the whole thing was finished and posted etc. I noticed the orange peel kind of looked like the start of a line of notes…the title popped into my head as I was painting, and I realized yes the blue note, blue notes are all about music…the whole stemming from a very active subconscious…it astonishes me how it all evolves..
Thanks so much for the lovely compliment Joanne..
