It’s Tulip time but he will never see them again, though they will come back next year…..
“The year is ended, and it only adds to my age;
Spring has come, but I must take leave of my home.
Alas, that the trees in this eastern garden,
Without me, will still bear flowers
.
- Su Ting, 720 CE

  • A new addition to my tiny Tulip collection reflects a very poignant time in my life right now…a beginning and an end..
    It is my intention to augment most of my collections and this is the perfect time to do some Tulips….
    Painted in watercolour in an abstract expressionist style on Arches Not Paper

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

    Just read your description more closely and you say it is abstract expressionism and not impressionism, I will look that up b ecause I just love how the tulips are hinted at and the rest left to the imagination with the help of your color and light! It’s funny how the mind works and fills in the blanks, because the first few times I viewed this I saw complete tulips!

  • It could be either, but it’s closer to expressionism….the way it’s been painted does give the impression of whole blooms, and is exactly what I wanted to convey…….thanks again Joanne…
