Artist's Description

A face that should content me wondrous well
Should not be fair but lovely to behold,
With gladsome cheer all grief for to expel;
With sober looks so would I that it should
Speak without words such words as none can tell;
Her tress also should be of crisped gold;
With wit; and thus might chance I might be tied,
And knit again the knot that should not slide
.

The poem above is called “A Description of Such a One As He Would Love” by Sir Thomas Wyatt, an ambassador to France and Italy for King Henry VIII…rumoured to be Anne Boleyn’s lover, he spent a month in the Tower of London until Boleyn’s execution for adultery…
I gave the portrait a feeling of the past, (a cameo effect), but it is definitely rooted in the present, and hopefully "such a one as anyone could love
"

Pastel, Conte, and Charcoal Pencils on Fabriano Paper..my portraits are fictitious creations from my imagination…any resemblance to a living person unless specifically stated, is purely accidental…
