If I were a Tree..
I wouldn’t stay to argue with the huggers, the naysayers, the surgeons, the hippies..
I would just pack up and leave..JZ…
A touch of the surreal, fantasy, folk tale all combine in this seasonal watercolour painting, which is part of my tree series…a commentary on the earth and the whole push towards saving the trees…
On a personal note…
When the city planted our new Katsura tree in the front garden years ago, one morning a few days later we found it several feet down the sidewalk roots and all as if it were going back to where it came from..we planted it back in the hole explained that this was it’s new home now, and it never moved after that…gospel truth…view large…
Note…the poem above written by me in a semi haiku style can be interpreted in more than one way…

I really like this perspective and point of view Janis. It is not often that I have seen in the painting world where the roots and the intricate roadway below eye level of the tree is shown. I like the whole analogy that there is more than what you see on the surface. Nice poetry and interesting story, Mother Nature continues to intrigue us…
I have quite a lot of paintings that show under the ground, but I’ve only posted a few of them here…I should say that only a few are showing…the rest are hidden…I also have some I did not post showing underground life like earth worms etc…this shows the trees leaving the earth that has abused them…the story is true…we have never solved the mystery of how that tree came to be down the sidewalk…it would have taken two men with a backhoe to get it out of the ground..
Glad you like the painting Joanne…thanks so much…

I was going to show a few insects, but it would be hard to see them…the painting had to be photographed far away to get it all in…..

Good one, Janis! This says to me there’s more there than the eye can see…we have to look below the surface sometimes!
That is very true….often under the surface we find that we are all connected in some way….Thank you so much Dot…very nice of you.
