Chinese Painting is all about the unity of idea and technique, methods of painting developed over thousands of years…
However there is a delicate balance between following established rules and transcending them in a creative way, leaving oneself free to interpret the masters without getting away from the essence of the genre…before attempting to start painting the Chinese way, it is essential to study the traditions closely, to practice the all important brush strokes, to understand the importance of the various shades of ink, the meaning of rocks, water, mountains, and above all to study the masters..
