Indigo" is all about the colour, the mood, and the haunting romantic feeling of early 19th century landscapes…
I have emptied it of all human reference and made it slightly abstract….meaning is not confirmed, but left to the viewer’s imagination…it is wild nature, shown as infinite, sky and water meeting in concert….there is no ground on which to stand, unless the pale area in the front represents it, and the horizon, barely present, does not offer anything on which to fix our gaze….in the pale moonlight we struggle to make out something recognizable but it escapes us again and again…life is like that…we can only hope for clarification as time wears on

This belongs with my Hardy series….though not representing any particular one of his books, it embodies the spirit of the landscape that figures so strongly in all of them….

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

The inky blues caught me up in this. Also the faint pattern of something in the sky, but like you said, you can’t quite recognize it. Just wonderful!

  • Thanks so much Dot…I’m so glad this resonated with you…
