Artist's Description

“The Niagara Escarpment is known as one of the world’s most unique natural wonders – a masterpiece of living art that has been recognized as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve because the residents of this significant ecosystem have successfully balanced conservation and preservation with surrounding development…it runs westward from New York State, through Ontario, Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois and is composed of the Lockport geological formation of Silurian age, and is similar to the Onondaga geological formation, which runs parallel to it and just to the south, through the western portion of New York and southern Ontario Canada. The escarpment is most famous as the cliff over which the Niagara River plunges to form Niagara Falls, for which it is named"… wiki..Bruce Trail Org..

I have not been there is many years, but in fall it is an incredibly beautiful sight….calling on my memory, (I don’t look at photos for fear of painting too realistically, and because I’m interpreting mood and emotion), I created an impressionist semi-abstract painting, utilizing some artistic licence in recreating my experience

Watercolour on Arches HP Paper.

I think Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons”, (Autumn) is a perfect accompaniment to the painting as it incorporates all the colours of the season…the video has some lovely scenes too

MUSIC

More music inspired paintings are shown below and the entire collection so far can be seen HERE

Reducing everything to it’s essence, gets to the very heart of the subject matter…it’s the artists vision after all…how he/she sees the world…for me it’s the promise that distance holds and the journey to get there.
