The City by ©Janis Zroback
Clear

This city could be Xanadu from Kubla Khan, or Poe’s “The City in the Sea”, or again be found in any of Dickens novels…take your pick…
I conceived it as an old city far in the distance…through the mist, the sun gleams dully on the towers and lights the water on the right…the painting looks ancient as if the years have added to the fog that blankets the entire scene
…this painting is executed in similar colours to the last work “Torrid Zone”…but where that was hot in temperature, this feels much cooler…

Reducing everything to it’s essence, gets to the very heart of the subject matter…it’s the artists vision after all…how he/she sees the world…for me it’s the promise that distance holds and the journey to get there

Watercolour on Arches Not Paper

The Moon and I

Mysterious Isle

The Island

Sunset 2

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..
