Over the years I have amassed many flower pots of all descriptions…I have a ton of them antique, new, old, cracked, mossy, painted, all sizes and shapes…this is one of my tiny ones, filled to the brim and overflowing with cherries…too many to keep inside the frame of the picture, so they are reaching out of it…a little bit of trrompel’oeil, and my lip service to realism, and of course the usual play on words in the title…reaching out for life, reaching out for love

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

This is terrific, Janis! I really like the effect of the stems reaching out of the painting. And the vibrant cherries are so REAL! Soooo nice, my friend! ~ Pat
Thank you so much Pat..I don’t do this type of realism often, but I enjoy it when I do…it is so restful…

wonderful idea Janis…especially the way the juicy cherries are tumbling out of the pot, enjoyed the write up too…lovely watercolour
Thank you so much Linda…realistic work like this is very painstaking and slow…each single cherry took about two hours and that does not include the planning and drawing etc…but as I said to Pat it is very restful to the mind and I listen to music all through it.. when it is done though, the pain in my back is fierce from bending over so long…but I’m happy with the results, so it’s worth it…
