I love your cherry work, Janis. I am always intrigued by your ability to paint so realistically. I have never been good at that. Added to my favs..beautiful!
Thank you so much Lisa…I tend to break rules though, especially when it comes to light…painters like Rembrandt placed light anywhere they wanted to illuminate the subject and I admire that style very much…..painting realistically means using your inner eye…I generally don’t have anything in front of me…e.g. I have no cherries sitting on my table while I paint….I remember being told when I was learning to paint the chinese way, that chinese painters don’t paint from a subject, but from what is remembered…I have been doing that ever since…it stops me from being too literal or hyperreal which can end up looking flat…
