Delicious...Delectable Fruit Tart by

The newest addition to the “Delicious” Collection, this fruit tart is overflowing with juicy fruit in a creamy custard, in a light as a feather puff pastry case…heavenby now you all know of my love affair with food painting and about my love for the book “Food in Painting” by Kenneth Bendiner below are a few more from the series…

Watercolour on Arches 300lb Not Paper…

Lucious Layer Cake with Berries and Whipped Cream

Plum Blossom with Cramelized Apples and Calvados Cream

Ginger Shortcake with Nectarines and Creme Fraiche

Scone with Berries and Cream

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

it’s lovely, more fruit jewels. Looks good enough to eat.

  • Thanks so much Amy…this is one of the series I was advised to explore more fully, so I felt it was time to add a few more paintings…

This is just…..irresistible in every way !!!

  • As I was painting it I thought “Corinne would like this”…thank you so much….it was hard to resist eating it up, but that would have not helped the painting go forward…. :))

I’m so glad to see the food back! I loved your screwdrivers and such, but they just didn’t have the same affect on me that the food painting do. Beautifully done Janis.

  • Recently, I was priveleged to spend an afternoon with a very well respected art critic…I wanted feedback on my portfolio…I asked her to be very frank with me, as I had certain goals for my work and wanted to focus my energies where it would assist me to achieve those goals…she admired all my work but chose three collections she felt I should concentrate on, and told me to ignore the rest…so that is what I plan to do and you will see her advice reflected in my subject matter…btw….the tools were one of the choices… :)))
Thanks so much Jim…certain kinds of food subjects were also part of her advice…

fabulous watercolour painting Janis …I really do love your food series in more ways than one…not just for the feast for the eyes but also the way they are always so perfectly painted..love the lace pattern the sticky feel to this tart…

  • That’s something the critic pointed out to me about my food paintings… the real stickiness, and drippiness, which she said was very difficult to convey in watercolour and which she liked very much…..that I know….these food paintings are more difficult to do than landscape or flowers…I’m so glad you like them…thanks so much Linda…
