I find the patina of age very intriguing and exciting to recreate in paint…I always have cuts of MDF and Masonite primed with gesso waiting in the wings, ready for when inspiration hits me…lately I’ve been preoccupied with doors and things to do with doors….I made this door old…very old…it has withstood the test of time and all kinds of weather and has been painted many times, attesting to a tale of many owners…lately someone dressed it with a shiny new red door knob…why? if it could talk it would tell many stories….

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

so well done..what a great effect you’ve got here .
It is actually a front door, as I described in the writing attached, but I guess it could well be an old cupboard door …thanks for putting that idea in my head…I will probably do a cupboard door too…I am imagining it already…thanks so much for that insightful comment Catherine…

very interesting door indeed Janis…great texture and shapes and colour and I like the way it looks like the paint is peeling off! revealing diff. coats of paint.
Painting layers on layers of different colours and adding shapes and edges, adds authenticity….using gessoed board helps too… thanks so much Linda…I’m glad you like it. :))
