Juicy Stuff" is based on DIEtte Hendersons, Orange Slices
I loosened this up considerably, and made the reds more intense, allowing the colour to pour freely over the edges…this is more in the realm of abstract realism, so I carried it much further by leaving the slices incomplete and carrying one right out of the picture plane …

Life happens,
Especially when
We make other plans.
A day is like an orange;
We squeeze moments and
Memories from each one
While worrying whether
Our glass is half-full or half-empty.
Some drink their fill of
The juice of opportunity;
Careless others spill theirs,
Staining the carpet of their lives.
The sweetest juice is found
In moments spent with you;
Such times are gently squeezed,
Flowing into the mouth of my heart,
Where they remain forever.
Whenever Life happens,
I think of you and know our moments
Are a sweet vintage waiting for us. R.Blackwell

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

As I always write, I love your paintings ( ALL OF THEM) and you never underestimate the power of your pieces’ title. AWESOME.
I am overwhelmed by your comment….can you explain a little more about what you mean by never underestimating the titles? thanks so much Ghelly…

superb janis.. and juicy is a great tilte..it looks that way..
you’re amazing lady!!..how long do you study the fruit for..to get them to look so good I wonder..
it would take me a lifetime to get anything I painted to look remotely edible..hha!!
so well done
In answer to your question….a life time…all we have is our experience of life to let us know how to portray anything…you have seen it, felt it, lived it, eaten it, been it…everything tells you how to do it…you just have to look and listen and feel…it’s all there…
I’m glad you like the painting…thanks so much. :)))

I think The title is a very important part of the piece,it complements your work, you always use very creative titles, for example your collection of desserts, they all started with the word Delicious… I think that was clever, you are painting food and you make it even more provocative.
Your paintings are exceptional but the titles calls my attention too,
*-))
Ah…now I understand…yes the title is very important…I generally start to feel it once I begin to paint, but sometimes I know it before I start…on occasion I have something in mind and halfway through the painting says something different to me…it’s all part of the creative process and I love every bit of it…

juicy stuff is a great title for this painting Janis….you can see it and just taste that zing….I do so love the words with it too..esp the sweetest juice is found in spending moments with you….who would have thought oranges could be linked to relationships…very clever
I have so many poems in my collection…there are even odes to onions and garlic by world famous poets…I believe there is a poem for every occasion and for every thing you could name……
It’s so great that you like the painting Linda…I just love the spontaneity of watercolour…thanks so much…
