The Bird of Paradise by ©Janis Zroback

The Bird of Paradise" is part of the Tropics Collection…Watercolour on Fabriano Artistico Paper…see more below..

Softly stroked by the mid day wind
near violently shaken with night gusts
moistened by showers and ripened by light
stroked by sun beams and kissed by the moon
. D Rosenburg

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

Gorgeous! One of my favorite flowers!

  • Thank you so much Shaina…this is not a botanical picture, so I used elements from a bud to a full grown flower…they grew in our garden when I was a girl…

    Amazing …………. Yellows and Greens

  • I was beginning to see green and yellow spots by the time I finished this painting today, but I actually only used two greens and two yellows in various combinations…I need the relief of a winter painting to rest my eyes now… :)))

Janis, your paintings just get better and better! I thought the last one was my fave and now it’s this one!! Brilliant colous and light (literally). It has a bit of a stained glass feel to it.
    Lovely range of greens.
Great work – that birdflower glows!!

  • In terms of how I paint this particular series, I am not doing anything different, but I think a painting like this may resonate more with you, if for example you’re a person who loves colour and light…some people really love the soft winter ones best and I paint those quite differently…the canvas works are done in a different style too….so I think a lot of it depends on what you find most appealing..
If you have a look at my early pages, a work like The Potting Shed was done a very long time ago and I personally place it among my favourites and so do many people…but I no longer post large works like that…they are just for sale as originals..
I’m so pleased that you like this one…thank you so much Susan…
