Mutsu Carnival by ©Janis Zroback

“Mutsu Carnival” is part of the Portfolio Collection and has two blogs devoted to the painting journey

Acrylic on Canvas..a trio of Mutsu Apples on a Fantasy Commedia Carnavale background..original painting is for sale…

When this painting of Mutsu was finished, what emerged was a definite echo of Harlequin and Columbine…. the combination of pinks, oranges, blues and greens are enticing….it’s one of my favourites.

I was inspired to write the outline of a play to go with the painting….although the characters are based on the Commedia dell’Arte, there the resemblance ends. The story is entirely my invention….see it in my writing pages HERE….

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

The Mutsu apple (also known as Crispin) is a cross between the Golden Delicious and the Indo apple varieties first grown in Japan, and named after the Mutsu Province of Japan, where it was presumably first grown….wiki.

  • That’s a wonderful compliment Hilary…this series is so far my only collection of photorealistic work, which I normally avoid, so I felt I had to add abstract elements as well.
