“The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something, and tell what it saw in a plain way.
Hundreds of people can talk for one who can think, but thousands can think for one who can see.
To see clearly is poetry, prophecy, and religion, all in one
"….John Ruskin, Modern Painters

I don’t grow roses, but my neighbour does…the old fashioned kind that scents the summer days and nights, as far as three houses away when the wind blows…now, even though only the hips remain, I can see them clearly, little beacons of light in the darkness of a late autumn night..
I hope this painting tells it “in a plain way” so you too can remember your own scented summer

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

Beautiful Janis, I only need to glance over the deck railing to see what the cold weather has just recently done to some of our roses.

  • Thank you so much Jim….I think gardens have a certain beauty in winter, that gives us a totally different feeling from summertime…
