The third in the Series of Oriental Paintings…..set in the Mountains of China…
It’s the end of the day, and the catch has been good….I’m almost home….I stop to rest near the temple…the sound of the bell echoes across the water. Janis

Lofting sail a thousand miles
I could not find a famous mountain.
I moor my boat outside Hsuan-yang
to gaze at last at Hsiang-lu peak.
Once I read the master monk.
He walked outside this world of dust.
Now his Tung-lin hut lies near;
through evening sun I hear a bell. Meng Haoran

I paint in many different styles and feature a myriad of subject matter, which I show as individual collections….
I am inspired by the world interpreting it in brilliant colours, often influenced by the writings of famous authors and poets..

im totally digging the watercolour and ink treatment.
I thought these would make a restful change from the brilliant colours I normally indulge in. I’m glad you like it…

Beautiful artwork, I’ve never worked with rice paper, is it difficult to work with ?
Thank you so much….rice paper can be frustrating at first, as you learn to control the ink….
I have two journal entries on Chinese Brush Painting here, and plan to add more as often as I can for those who are interested in learning more about this interesting art form,

I have two bottles of the Chinese inks….red and black , It came with a brush or calligraphy type of tool. I have never used it, I’ll have to pull it out. Thanks for the info, I’ll have to check out your journals :)
There are two entries so far….in this type of scenario, one can only touch the surface, but I’ll do my best and hopefully a few people would become interested in either trying this style of painting, or at least experimenting with the ink and paper.
