Indifference leads to Injustice...

“The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference"…

“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest"..Elie Weisel.

Reading the news reports this morning about Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson and the reaction of the other diners, brought these two quotes by Elie Weisel to mind…
Have we now reached a stage in life where we are indifferent, or it is that we fear being embroiled, or was it because these were two celebrated individuals in the arts, that no one stepped up to intervene?
Is this a one off or are we all so hardened to injustice, we do nothing when we see it occurring right in front of our eyes
?

Of course the social media sites are buzzing and as a result the police have now decided to get involved…

This is not about the Saatchi/Lawson story per se, a more important question remains: except from behind the safety net of social media, do we fail to protest?
