This is page 2 of the Summer Journal…as with all my other visual Journals, it will be a record of events, meals, painting experiments, parties, recipes etc…this is a large journal much like the others, and I am looking forward to filling it up with memories…Pg 1 is all about beer, a drink which is beloved in Canada and drunk here all year long, and now page 2 is Egg and Chips still in the baking pan, which can go with beer too… ..summer’s here and the time is ripe as the saying goes…journal page subjects are casual and unstructured…I don’t fuss or fiddle with the paintings too much and I try to complete each in one sitting...

    i understand now you had tried many different style, Janis. the place where i painted that impressionism, my second oil painting was Quebec five years ago. it means i was very near from you once.

    You certainly were very close…
    I paint in different styles for several reasons…
    1. It keeps me fresh and interested..
    2. I love exploring different styles, genres and materials..
    3. When you sell prints and cards, it nice for viewers to find something they like, some people prefer my watercolours, some like acrylics, some portraits, some still life and so on…
    4. Lastly..it’s exciting to me…I will paint this way forever I think…they are all different, but they are all mine…I am totally self taught. so every painting is a new adventure..
