I can too.. :)) I looked at it when I was finished this afternoon and the scent wafted up to me…funny huh? I just love painting food… it is so satisfying..
I understand what Cezanne meant whe he said “I will astonish Paris with an apple”...

Thank you so much Anna…all of my food series are on the realistic side…I get carried away as I love it so much…but it’s all by hand in watercolour….painstaking, but so satisfying and peaceful to do..

That’s been open for years. :)) only for friends are family though…and everything in it is free…lol..

I’m so pleased that you stopped by to comment on the new series Catherine…these portraits are not just pictures of food, but is also a commentary on how far we have come in Western culture….by placing the focus on the bun, we are talking about not only about food, but indulgence, passion, sensuousness, love, everything that makes us human…of course it’s also a pretty picture, and the collection would look great all grouped together…thank you so much for the lovely compliment Catherine…

I am so thrilled you like it Corinne…I was going to paint the icing as poured over it, and I changed my mind…I thought it looked just right this way….paintings like this one evokes the passion we feel for good food…all the best feelings rise up within us and that is a good thing…thank you so much for choosing it as a favourite…I really appreciate it.

I want to evoke all these feelings in the viewer…great memories….mother’s baking when you were a kid, times out with the family at a favourite restaurant, etc. or it may just be a feeling of happiness…. during these hard economic times, we need as many good feelings as possible…this is not the time for nightmarish images, at least I won’t be paintitng any…
Painting these portraits make me feel good and I’m so happy it makes you feel good too…looking at them earlier might be a good idea…however the latest studies say that as far as weight watching is concerned, it does not matter when you eat, as long as you consume the same amount of calories each day….so eating late at night won’t harm you, though depending on what it is it might give you heart burn if you lie down right afterwards…

I just love cinnamon buns…I did not grow up with them but was introduced to them when I came here to university…there is a place in Toronto called Michel’s Baguettes that make the best in the city (besides homemade)...they are large, soft, and not too sweet…two people can share one easily..thanks for sharing your memories Joanne…
