Winter-Yellow Moon
“Yellow Moon” is part of the Winter, and Sepia (see others below) Collection….this is part of the actual town in Northern Ontario Canada, as wrtten in the lyrics, but instead of using the usual winter colours, I chose to do the whole landscape in yellow, even adding a glaze of yellow on the snow, giving the impression of a golden glow over everything…the “Dream Comfort” of a memory...

Love the yellow such a different perspective of the north but somehow quite fitting!
I just ador k.d. lang and have seen her in concert twice but this is the first time I have heard her interpretation of Neil Young’s Helpless! Awesome!

She is fantastic…I could have used Neil young himself, as he has that high pitched plaintive note, that just cries the song, but she gives it a deep resonance, that just wails and I really like that…
With regard to the painting…I like to use unconventional colours sometimes…the first layers of the painting looked like a regular winter scene in blues and whites with the brown rocks, but the final layers have the brilliant Hansas, Cads, and Quins…all my favourites..
Some of the the best things about being a painter, is that you can do exactly what you want wtih a scene or a still life or an abstract…with portraits, the subject want it to resemble them…you may have noticed that I don’t do portraits…people just don’t want blue or green faces… :)))
