Though the night is black as my skin
There’s a light burning bright showing me the way
But I know where I’ve been
There’s a cry in distance
It’s a voice that comes from deep within

Lost so many on the way

The version of this song on my disc is so much better, but youtube is the best we can do here….I have been playing certain pieces and painting the vibes I get from the lyrics and the melody, and I’m getting some very interesting results..

This is very energetic and moving! It somehow reminds of a heart montior rhythm! The music is so great! Did you see Hairspray, it was such an uplifting movie! And so is this work!

I saw Hairspray both in live theatre and the movie, and I have this song on Queen Latifah’s new jazz album…she does a great job of the song, which inspired the painting…interesting that you think of a heartbeat or rhythm which is a symbol of life, and life is often sybolized by a light or spark…thanks Joanne.
