Etched in Stone..3

“Etched in Stone 3” is part of the Fall at your Feet Series....
“Leaves pressed into the stone, broken twigs, moss, detritus of stains, imprinted forever by feet walking over them…small creatures living in the shelter of the leaves….nature’s own art work that changes every year...
Watercolour with Mixed Media on Paper…
“How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun...Elsie N Brady

This one has more density to it, and less illumination but I get a sense of movement from it. I feel as if the small patch of light in the right hand corner could disappear at any moment as the wind swirls the leaves and another area would be revealed. Brilliant work Janis!
Janis Zroback replied
Most of the light is focused on the skeletonised leaf with the bug on it…thanks again for your great insight Joanne…
Racheli
Dear Janis, that artwork has sort of light as if it was made with much care and thoughts, i was looking at the layout particularly, all and all it is vibrantly, each part mixed into the other as if it’s nature creation, i like it very much.
great artist manner, reminds me how notes linkage to a music.
Janis Zroback replied
Thank you that very insightful comment Rachel…yes, after the first washes were laid down, every stroke of paint in this particular series was thought out beforehand, and placed for the best effect…as I moved around the support, I painted the leaves etc. as if they were in a dance…

Racheli
Ok Janis, sounds as i was thinking, may i ask what do you mean as you say “Mixed media” if it’s ok to ask, anyway if you don’t like to say, i shall accept it understandably.
Janis Zroback replied
I didn’t expand as it takes too long, but it means I used many different media to create the painting…here there was watercolour, plaster, pastels, inks, pens etc…..
Jim Phillips
Really a gorgeous series Janis, one to be proud of.
Janis Zroback replied
I am thank Jim as they were all so much work…this is the last for now…
Racheli
Oh…...i understand, much obliged!
Just one more thing, incase you use pastels (Chalks, not oil pastels).
I read an article says, it is absolutely not healthy, cause we breath those fractions into our lungs, and it might cause some bad disease which i wont detailing it here. so it is better to do it with cover that defends mouth/nose.
Janis Zroback replied
I always take all precautions as I have allergies to everything under the sun…I have powerful air cleaners and I use industrial masks…thank you so much .Rachel
