The Wall...possibilities.

Janis Zroback

The Wall...possibilities.

“The Wall”...is part of the Abstract, Graffiti, Journal and Altered Pages Collection....it conveys the possibilities within art…art which is not of the mainstream, and at the same time, the possibilities that art can bring to anyone whether we own it or create it…and since we’re still on the subject of layers, then the possibilities that there are in life itself…the ones we come up against everyday and we either ignore them or are too afraid to take hold and fly with them, telling ourselves “it’s impossible”...

Watercolour, Acrylic, Oil Pastels, Plaster….on an Altered Journal page…

I dwell in Possibility
A fairer House than Prose
More numerous of Windows
Superior…for Doors

Of Chambers as the Cedars
Impregnable of Eye
And for an Everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky

Of Visitors…the fairest
For Occupation…This…
The spreading wide my narrow Hands
To gather Paradise
..Emily Dickenson

Listen to Somos Novios It’s Impossible....

Listen to It’s Impossible

It’s impossible, tell the sun to leave the sky, it’s just impossible
It’s impossible, ask a baby not to cry, it’s just impossible
Can I hold you closer to me and not feel you goin’ through me?
Split the second that I never think of you? Oh, how impossible

Can the ocean keep from rushin’ to the shore? It’s just impossible
If I had you, could I ever want for more? It’s just impossible
And tomorrow, shouldya ask me for the world, somehow I’d get it
I would sell my very soul and not regret it
For to live without your love—It’s just impossible

Not a direct translation of the song above, but just as beautiful…

Somos novios
Pues, los dos sentimos mutuo amor
profundo
Y con eso
Ya ganamos lo más grande
de este mundo

Nos amamos, nos besamos
Como novios, nos deseamos
Y hasta veces sin motivos,
sin razón
Nos enojamos

Somos novios
Mantenemos un cariño limpio y puro
Como todos
Procuramos el momento más oscuro

I go beyond expected to a world of possibilities
    I never say I can’t and won’t accept negativity
I deal in worlds beyond the now and live in dreams that reel
I see the unexpected and know just how you feel
It’s what I’ve known for ages and thought all were the same
I thought that my acquaintances to be like me…untamed
I never knew that in my world was this amazing place
Where often times I knew the man even though he had no face
I see the unexpected or feel the truth is close
When most content themselves with fact I sometimes overdose
Upon the world outside the box I finally feel at home
With metaphysical fathoms that allow my dreams to roam
A Pisces can transend the worlds humans rarely see
It’s all a part of daily life when you finally believe
Come fly with me to distant lands or transgress time immortal
Into a world of mystery or deal with life aborted
Dare to live and step beyond the powers of the mind
You just may find that in your quest you leave this world behind

  • Janis Zroback replied

As you’ve said…Not without reason, so in reality somewhere...I agree Rachel, “that everything is possible in the best of all possible worlds”, as Voltaire has said so eloquently…but it’s up to us to recognize when that when the right opportunities come along we should grasp them with both hands and not run away….I’m so pleased you like this series..as always, thank you so much for you lovely comments..

This is beautiful Janis! I just did a photo shoot with my model in front of a grafitti wall – there’s something very enduring in grafitti walls – things that tell stories from everybody throughout a long period of time. Your painting reminds me of that. One of my fav’s of yours!

  • Janis Zroback replied

I’m happy you like this one Jan…graffiti has it’s place in the art world, and there are some great graffiti artists here in Canada…

P.S.I am looking forward to Nuit Blanche, coming up on Oct. 4th…

feel the texture without even touching it…!!!!

  • Janis Zroback replied

Glad you like it Karin….the texture is raised off the paper, so I was pleased that the photo was able to show a little of that…

This is really special Janis! I am really liking this Graffiti series! I noticed you mentioned to Jan Piller about Nuit Blanche in Toronto and checked it out. Looks so interesting and I thought to myself, now why doesn’t Montreal do something like that? I googled it and found out in true Quebecois spirit they do and have expanded that night into a week long festifal called the Festival of Lights that takes place for a week in February, and celebrates many different types of art forms including culinary. Will be checking that out this year….

  • Janis Zroback replied

But February would be murder to have something outdoors….we have the one night all night with art installations everywhere and all art galleries, museums and university participating…the whole city is lit up and every one is out doors…graffiti is o.k. that night too.
I’m glad you like this series….
