Words

“Words” are from the Journal, Graffiti, Altered Art, and Abstract Series…
Watercolour on Altered Journal Page.. there are reasons we should repeat everything we say.
Words are deeds. The words we hear
May revolutionize or rear
A mighty state. The words we read
May be a spiritual deed
Excelling any fleshly one,
As much as the celestial sun
Transcends a bonfire, made to throw
A light upon some raree-show.
A simple proverb tagged with rhyme
May colour half the course of time;
The pregnant saying of a sage
May influence every coming age;
A song in its effects may be
More glorious than Thermopylae,
And many a lay that schoolboys scan
A nobler feat than Inkerman*. William Charles Wentworth
Words can also be meaningful in music

Janis Zroback replied
You’re the brilliant one to get my message so quickly….I love it when that happens…thanks T…yay!!!
Joanne Bradley
Ahhh Janis! You must have been a handful as a child, always dreaming, creating, exploring! Did you paint or draw when you were little?
I love what seems to be the spontaneity of this and unexpected randomness from an artist of your calibre, and yet not totally a surprise since you seem to be in regular touch with your inner child. I love it! I need to be that freer more often. And it works! It’s brilliant and can compete with any street graffiti! And as far as the music, I saw the BeeGees live as well and Words is a favourite is that what inspired you?
Janis Zroback replied
Actually I was only a handful at school, where I questioned everything the nuns said….at home I was always busy doing stuff, and reading everything I could get my hands on…
I persuaded the nuns to take me at three instead of the usual six, as I could already read and write and talk, boy could I talk!!!...so I sat at a desk and did all the regular subjects, like French and Math and History…went to the library where I could not reach the desk top, but borrowed 7 or 8 books at a time…authors like Charles Dickens, I had read by the time I was seven..I was definitely precocious…
The song is in contrast to the essence of the painting…it was in my head along with a lot of other stuff about words while I was doing the journal, which has other pages with words and questions about words…check the link below for more about words…
Words words words, I’m so sick of words...

Forget about answering the first question. I just remembered you showed us your first painting which was brilliant and I think created at the age of seven?

Janis Zroback replied
I’m really happy that I do Roger…I love words…to read, to say, to write, and as you see to paint…this particular journal that’s represented here, is a journal about a much larger journal, and there is an even smaller one that’s a journal about this one…and so it goes….
